It was the third year of the war in Iraq, and Gina saw severly wounded troops coming home.  She wanted to raise money to help buy medical equipment for them.  “I began to formulate the idea for a calendar to be sold to raise funds for new hospital equipment for Veterans.  I wanted to honor my grandfather’s service during WWII, and since I’d always loved the music and fashions of the 1940’s, I would try to create a vintage style pin-up calendar.  I was inspired by the beautiful nose art of painted ladies on the WWII bombers and of the lovely photos of Betty Grable and Rita Hayworth, the popular images of “the girl next-door, that helped boost morale for America’s troops fighting so far from home”
